Toolbox for positive change

Permaculture is based on having the ethics Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares in mind in all decision making.  Many find these ethics relatable and want to align their way of living to them.  That’s where it gets tricky.  Change is difficult, and we tend to reverse back to old habits.  Permaculture design has become the backbone of Permaculture, because it helps us figure out what is stopping us and we design a way towards the life we want to live.

Design is simply: taking informed decisions.  Permaculture design is then: taking informed decisions that align with the ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair shares.

Want some tools?

To make permaculture design easily available to all that are interested, we have collected 44 tools in a handy toolbox.  The varied tools give support and guidance to those that want to develop their design skills and move towards planning and taking decisions leading to a regenerative lifestyle.

This basic toolbox of tools that are useful in Permaculture design is freely accessible online.  We hope it will be enjoyed by people all over the world that are engaged in permaculture.  It can be downloaded, printed, or simply browsed through.

Not only English!

Until now most of the permaculture literature and teaching materials have been solely available in English.  Since the Nordic Permaculture Academy is focused on making permaculture learning widely available in the Nordic countries and in the local languages, we ventured into this collaboration in making descriptions of all these 44 tools in 7 languages!  Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Estonian, Danish, Icelandic and English.  We  hope these tools will support learners in the language they best understand and that permaculture teachers will get the foundation needed to teach permaculture courses directly in our local languages.

Now that the toolbox is finally ready we hope you’ll dive in and explore these tools – hopefully you can find a language version that fits with your needs.  Who knows, in the future, it might eventually be translated to even more languages.

Hungry for more tools?

The team behind the Permaculture Design Toolbox has stumbled upon even more tools while working on this basic version.  We are at the moment looking into possibilities for making an extended version of the toolbox.  Stay tuned by subscribing to our newsletter.

The creation of this toolbox was funded by Nordplus and you can find it on NordicPermacultureAcademy.org
